This summer, libraries across the state will offer summer reading programs with the theme, “Tails and Tales.”
From June 23 to Aug. 6, Macedon Public Library, 30 Main St., will motivate people of all ages to read more books by providing prizes and special activities connected to a creature theme.
Grace & Glory will kick off the festivities on July 1. A variety of animals and animal handlers will be stationed in the parking lot from 2 to 6 p.m. All community members are invited to visit the mini-zoo and check out related books the library has on display.
Community members can enjoy a balloon twisting workshop, daily pop-up craft sessions and a concert, “Sound Waves on the Erie Canal,” featuring the musical stylings of Fever Strings, The Old Hippies and Paul Strowe, “The Human Jukebox.”
Everyone who registers to read over the summer will have chances to win prizes sponsored with funding from Friends of Macedon Public Library, including zoo tickets, books and gift bags. Children will earn “cash” to spend at the summer reading store planned for the “Bombdiggity End of Summer Reading Extravaganza.”
The library will give away popsicles from 3 to 7 p.m. June 23 to celebrate those who registered for the summer reading program. Staff will be on-hand to help anyone who is unsure of how to register at macedonpubliclibraryny14.readsquared.com
