If you’re looking for pure, escapist pleasure reading, you can’t do wrong with J.D. Robb’s “In Death” series. Robb is the pseudonym of best-selling novelist Nora Roberts, and in her protagonist, New York cop Eve Dallas, she’s created an engaging, complex character who crushes the bad guys in fine form. Full disclosure: there is some salty language in the books, and mild sexual content, so if you’re not comfortable with that, this might not be the series for you. But in general we recommend these for fun, light reading while you’re stuck at home.
