I know there is a lot on everyone’s mind right now. I get it. I also know that that completing the Census this time around is going to be critical to ensuring that Macedon receives the correct amount of aid once the pandemic is over. That is because the aid for things like: medical care, transportation, education, social services and other important areas is going to be tied to the count of people the Census reports. If folks put off doing the Census, and forget to do it, this means the count will be wrong. That means the state and federal aid allocated to Macedon will be proportionately lower then it should be. Consider how that might affect the community once this crisis is over and your local government is working through all the repercussions this crisis is going to create.
I am urging every, single head of the household in Macedon to go online now to do the Census:

It is really quick to take, and you can take it now even if you have not gotten the official postcard invitation yet. The head of the household should respond as though the date is April 1, 2020. List every household member that will be living with you as of April 1, 2020 including all babies, children, teens, adults and extended family members (grandma, grandpa, aunts, uncles, etc). If you are divorced and your children live with you 51% of the time, include them on your application. It is important to count everyone!
To see Macedon’s progress on the Census, you can go to this site: https://2020census.gov/en/response-rates.html?cid=20423:%2Bcensus%20%2Bresponse%20%2Brates:sem.ga:p:dm:en:&utm_source=sem.ga&utm_medium=p&utm_campaign=dm:en&utm_content=20423&utm_term=%2Bcensus%20%2Bresponse%20%2Brates
As of writing this article, Macedon is just a bit above 14%. There’s quite a ways to go to get to 100%.
If you are bothered by a question, you may skip it. Be careful, though, not to skip more than one question or your application may not be counted. For some people, some of the questions may be sensitive. Do your best to try to answer honestly.
Remember, we are all in this crisis together and we need to do our part to make sure that once we are through this we will be able to get back on our feet as quickly and easily as possible.
Please do the Census, and spread the word to all your friends and family. This is one simple thing we can all do that will really make an impact as we move forward.
THANKS!
