What does it mean to be American?
In the documentary American Creed, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Pulitzer-Prize-winning historian David M. Kennedy come together from vastly different backgrounds, life experiences, and points of view to explore the idea of a unifying American creed.
Through many stories, set in big cities, small towns and rural areas around the country, the documentary wrestles with key issues in America today, including opportunity for all, the meaning of citizenship, and the challenge of meaningful civic participation and dialogue.
Join us for a screening of the movie with reflection upon and a dialogue about freedom, fairness, opportunity, and the meaning of citizenship following the screening. Dr. Richard Newman from RIT will facilitate the conversation, thanks to funding we have received from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
