Our Revisiting the Founding Era series has been a real eye-opener as we’ve explored a variety of issues using primary sources from the early days of our country. Now, on August 28th, we welcome Pal-Mac advanced placement history teacher Matthew Robbins to our community room for a presentation geared for high schoolers and adults. He will take a look at how contemporary debates over federal vs. state power, the balance of freedom and national security, and America’s role in aiding refugees relates to the controversies that our fore-parents dealt with in the founding era.
If you’re interested in attending this event, we suggest you stop by the library sometime this month to take a look at the Revisiting the Founding Era reader that contains essays and selected historical documents pertaining to this topic. We have ten copies of this reader, and you’re welcome to check one out and see what it’s all about.
Sponsored by a grant from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and the American Library Association. We are grateful for their support.
