Travelogue: Budapest, Hungary
Wednesday, May 20
11:00 a.m.-noon

Join us for a one-hour interactive live travel tour to beautiful Budapest, the capital of Hungary. We will explore the downtown area of Pest.
Buda and Pest, the two main sections that make up Budapest, are across the Danube River from each other. Pest, on the east side, has flat terrain, while Buda, to the west, is hilly. They were united in 1873. Budapest is a glamorous city with a fascinating history. It is historical and modern, vibrant and calm, majestic and down to earth—all at the same time.
Hungary’s history goes back more than 1,000 years. The golden age of Hungary and Budapest was in the 19th century, when Hungary was a vital part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Most of the architectural wonders in Pest are from this era.
On our tour, we will explore the history of this noble city, learn more about the Hungarian people, their unique language, and much more. We will stop at sites such as the stunning Parliament building, St. Stephen Basilica, and other monuments and memorials. We’ll enjoy a stroll through the lively restaurant and coffee house quarter and marvel at the views by the River Danube and Chain Bridge.
Our tour guide was born and raised in Budapest and lives there. She holds university degrees in economics, translation, and interpretation, and has worked as a tour guide for more than 20 years. She is proud to share her hometown with you!
