Here are a few of the new adult fiction titles we’ve gotten in recently:

Autobiography of Cotton
In this groundbreaking novel, Cristina Rivera Garza recounts her grandparents’ journey from mining towns to the cotton fields in a vivid and evocative history of cotton cultivation along the Mexico-US border. Through archival research and personal narrative, Rivera Garza chronicles the way cotton transformed the borderlands by reconstructing the cotton workers’ strike and reveals how cycles of deprivation and ecocide persist across generations. Deeply personal and politically acute, Rivera Garza crafts a new kind of border novel that tells how a brittle land radically altered her grandparents’ lives and the territories they helped develop. Autobiography of Cotton reveals a rich social history of agricultural colonization, labor activism, environmental degradation, and cross-border migration.

Free Falling
Retired hockey player Caleb Colburn needs this construction project to prove himself in the family business. Too bad Emma Sumner, architect liaison and Caleb’s college nemesis, is back in town and assigned to the project. Which means once again she’ll make his life a living hell. As for Emma, her job is on the line with this big project, made all the more challenging by the project manager. Caleb was the one who had snagged the scholarship she’d desperately needed to stay in college. She’s been living hand to mouth ever since and has no intention of ever forgiving the man. But the beautiful historic building they’re renovating is exactly the kind of project that they both love. A burning mutual attraction starts bringing them closer and closer to a potentially explosive mistake. And that’s even before the secrets come out.

The Midnight Taxi
Siriwathi Perera doesn’t quite know where she’s going in life. She never expected to be a taxicab driver in New York City, struggling to make ends meet and still living with her parents at twenty-eight. The true-crime podcasts that keep Siri company as she drives don’t do much to make up for the legal career she imagined for herself, or the brother she’s grieving. When public defender Amaya Fernando gets into her cab, they make a quick connection through their shared Sri Lankan roots. Siri thinks things might finally be looking up with this new potential friendship. But she’s suddenly dropped into her own true crime when she discovers her next passenger murdered in the backseat, and she has to call Amaya sooner than she’d expected.
