New Adult Fiction: Monday, April 15

You’ve had a busy day, right? You deserve a break. At the end of the day, sitting down with a good book is a great way to unwind and relax. Stop by and check out a book, CD, movie, or other material that you find interesting. We will continue to offer “Grab and Go” services for those who prefer to place their books on hold online and then pick them up in the cabinet inside the library.

Here are a few of the new books that have arrived at the library recently. We invite you to check them out!

Cheater

Death is not an unfamiliar visitor to Shady Oaks Retirement Village. But when a resident’s body is found brutally stabbed and his apartment ransacked, it’s clear there’s someone deadly in their community. Detective Katherine “Kit” McKittrick quickly discovers that Shady Oaks is full of skeleton-riddled closets. A longtime volunteer at the retirement facility, Dr. Sam Reeves honors his late grandfather’s memory by playing the piano for the residents regularly. So it shouldn’t be such a surprise when Kit crosses paths with him during her investigation, after she’d avoided the criminal psychologist for the last six months. Sam’s rapport within the retirement village proves vital to the case, and the pair find themselves working together once again.

The Sweet Blue Distance

When Carrie Ballentyne receives an invitation from a doctor in Santa Fe to join him at his practice, she readily accepts. On that journey she makes friends who will be with her for all her life: Eva, a young widow; and Eli, an experienced surveyor. Once Carrie is established in Santa Fe, it becomes clear that her employer is not everything she was led to believe. But she dedicates herself to the work and the women, providing health care, delivering babies, and earning the trust of her patients. In the course of that first summer in New Mexico, Carrie finds friendship, support, and even love where she least expected.

Sandcastle Inn

Vienna Price never intended to return for more than a passing visit to Oregon. But when your career tanks, home is where you go to nurse your wounds. A trip to Oregon isn’t in Matt Quinn’s plans, either, until a perfectly timed appeal for help arrives from his sister. What better place to decompress after a shattering loss than a quiet, seaside town named Hope Harbor? But R&R isn’t on the agenda when he arrives to find his sister’s new enterprise on life support. Vienna, however, may have just the skills needed to resuscitate the foundering B&B—if Matt can convince her to hang around long enough to mend an inn . . . and his heart.
