The Macedon Public Library Board of Trustees has voted to open the library for in-person visits. There will be several computers available that may be used for one hour. The Discovery Room is still closed. We ask you to keep your visit short, as we will only be allowing in up to ten people at a time. We will continue to offer “Grab and Go” services for those who prefer to place their books on hold online and then pick them up in the cabinet outside the library.
Here are a few of the new books for children that have come in to the library recently. We invite you to check them out!

The Firefly With No Glow
This Step 2 reader celebrates a firefly with no light, and how his unique lack of glow is just what’s needed to save the day. Luke is a firefly with one tiny difference from his friends–he doesn’t glow! He enjoys playing with his friends in their garden home, but then, they get trapped by a little boy looking for fireflies. Using his unique lack of light and a little teamwork, Luke is able to free all of his friends from the jar. This story shows kids that each of us is unique and has a special gift to share with the world. Step 2 readers use basic vocabulary and short sentences to tell simple stories. They are perfect for children who recognize familiar words and can sound out new words with help.
Pete the Cat: Rocking Field Day
From New York Times bestselling author-illustrator team Kimberly and James Dean comes a brand new I Can Read book in which Pete and his friends compete in Field Day! Ready, set, groove! It’s field day and Pete is excited for a day filled with fun activities, like the water-balloon toss, three-legged race, an obstacle course, and tug-of-war! Join Pete the Cat and his friends Callie, Grumpy Toad, and Gus as they compete for a medal on field day! Pete the Cat: Rocking Field Day is a Guided Reading Level J and a Level One I Can Read, which means it’s perfect for children learning to sound out words and sentences. Whether shared at home or in a classroom, the short sentences, familiar words, and simple concepts of Level One books support success for children eager to start reading on their own.
