New Fiction: Friday, May 14

The Macedon Public Library Board of Trustees has voted to open the library for in-person visits. There will be several computers available that may be used for one hour. The Discovery Room is still closed. We ask you to keep your visit short, as we will only be allowing in up to ten people at a time. We will continue to offer “Grab and Go” services for those who prefer to place their books on hold online and then pick them up in the cabinet outside the library.

Here are a few of the new books that have come in to the library recently. We invite you to check them out!

Star Wars Thrawn Ascendancy: Book II, Greater Good

Thrawn’s latest triumph still rests newly on his shoulders. He has led the Chiss to victory and brought glory to the House of Mitth, but the true threat to the Ascendancy has not yet been extinguished. Across the Ascendancy, seemingly inconsequential events could herald the doom of the Chiss. As Thrawn and the Expansionary Defense Fleet rally to uncover the plot, they discover a chilling truth: Rather than invade Chiss capitals or pillage resources, their enemy strikes at the very foundation of the Ascendancy, seeking to widen the rifts between the Nine Ruling Families and the Forty Great Houses below. As rivalry and suspicion sow discord among allies, each warrior must decide what matters most to them: the security of their family or the survival of the Ascendancy itself.

The Last Night in London

London, 1939. In a city on the brink of war, beautiful and ambitious Eva Harlow and her best friend, sweet Southerner Precious Dubose, are young models on the rise — and a duo as close as sisters. But when Eva falls in love with Graham St. John, an aristocrat and former pilot, she finds herself slipping into a web of intrigue, spies, and secrets. Her journey will test the limits of her friendship with Precious — and the mettle of all Britons as the Blitz devastates their world, snatching in an instant all they hold dear. Eighty years later, in 2019, journalist Maddie Warner, whose life has been marked by the tragic loss of her mother, comes to London to interview Precious. Maddie has been careful to close herself off to love, but in Precious she recognizes someone whose grief rivals her own — and whose wisdom may teach Maddie how to navigate her relationship with Colin, Precious’s shy and handsome surrogate nephew. But first Maddie will have to unravel Precious’s many secrets — the unremembered acts of glory, love, and betrayal that have haunted her for more than fifty years
