Altered Board Games

Saturday, June 1

2:00-4:00 p.m.

Make a unique item to treasure for years to come while cleaning out all the miscellaneous items in your junk drawer! Just bring in all of those strange little items you dropped in a drawer with the idea that someday there would be a good purpose for them. This is that day!  Also, bring a game board from a game that has been sitting on a shelf collecting dust rather than being played (Snakes and Ladders or Candy Land make excellent choices if no longer in demand).

Community member Sue Balding will show you how to alter the game board using some tools, your tchotchkes and a bit of creativity.  End up with a really interesting book for memorabilia that is also a conversational piece of art.

There is no fee to participate in this fun afternoon of creativity, however, please bring:

  • One game board of your choice (bring the whole game in if desired—the pieces can sometimes be used, too).
  • Scrabble tiles, dice, 3D letters, stickers, interesting bits and pieces from other objects, old jewelry, found objects, old keys, scrapbooking odds & ends—basically any sort of small objects you may have haunting a drawer that you find visually interesting.
  • Your imagination and creativity!

Teens age 14 and up as well as adults are welcome to attend. Please call the library at 315-986-5932 to register.
