We are pleased to announce Macedon Public Library has been selected as a hosting site for a national study that will begin on Monday, January 14.
Volunteers are needed to participate in a three month video-led fitness study conducted by the Geri-Fit Company. To qualify for the study, participants must be age 65 or over and not be doing any kind of strength training exercises (walking, tai chi or yoga is ok). Most of the exercises will be performed seated in a chair and you will not have to get on the floor.Study subjects must complete as many of the 24 classes that will be conducted during the three month (12 week) period beginning the week of January 14 through mid-April. You will need to bring your own set of 2 or 3-pound dumbbell weights, a stretch band and water to drink during the workout. You will be exercising to a Geri-Fit® DVD and several different levels of Geri-Fit® video workouts will be shown throughout the duration of the study. Everyone is encouraged to work out at their own pace.
Good attendance is requested! Classes will be held twice-a-week for 45-minutes each time. Upon completion of the 12 week study, each participant will fill out a survey to help evaluate the effectiveness of the video-led classes and to determine if their strength, stamina, balance and range of motion has improved.
Geri-Fit® video fitness classes will start on January 14 and will be held on Mondays and Thursdays at 10:15 am. Limited space is available. To sign up, see the Front Desk or call 315-986-5932.
