Sat. 11/11 2 pm: Donut Girls with Teresa Wood
In this brand new program offered by History House presenter, Teresa Wood, find out about Helen Purviance and Margaret Sheldon who travel with the Salvation Army to France to help American soldiers. Learn how they tend to broken bones, offer hope, write letters, sing, and…make donuts! Discover how donuts making led to a national holiday in the United States. Wood will engage you with this harrowing tale based on true historical events. She will bring interesting props such as a tent and their belongings. As expected, there will be a brand new history house to see: a bombed out cottage used as a canteen to serve soldiers. Doughnut holes and cider will be served. This presentation is great for all ages!
