Transgendered Teens Speak Out

Join us on Saturday, 6/25 at 2:00 pm  for the third of four book discussions moderated by the education section of the Gay Alliance of the Genesee Valley.

The book being discussed is Beyond Magenta: Transgendered Teens Speak Out, and there are still copies available to read before the event.   Read the book and develop a better understanding of life for a transgendered youth.  Even if you haven’t read the book, you are still welcome to attend and participate in the discussion.

Beyond Magenta draws on six first-person interviews to share compassionate insights into the teen transgender experience, tracing each individual’s emotional and physical journey as it was shaped by family dynamics, living situations and the transition each teen made during the personal journey toward acknowledgement of gender preference.  It was chosen as a 2015 Stonewall Honor Book, and it won the Flora Stieglitz Straus Award for Nonfiction in 2014

Funding for the books and discussion moderators provided by a grant the LGBT Giving Circle.

  1. I’ve never even heard of this book but I’d love to read it. It’s great seeing progress in the LGBT community.
