New DVDs: Thursday, February 13

Wicked (Blu-ray)

Wicked is the untold story of the witches of Oz: a young woman, misunderstood because of her unusual green skin, who has yet to discover her true power, and Glinda, a popular young woman, gilded by privilege and ambition, who has yet to discover her true heart. The two meet as students at Shiz University in the fantastical Land of Oz and forge an unlikely but profound friendship. Following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads. Glinda’s unflinching desire for popularity sees her seduced by power, while Elphaba’s determination to remain true to herself will have unexpected and shocking consequences for her future.

Nine Perfect Strangers. Season 1

Based on The New York Times bestselling book by author Liane Moriarty, Nine Perfect Strangers takes place at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation as nine stressed city dwellers try to get on a path to a better way of living. Watching over them during this 10-day retreat is the resort’s director, Masha, a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies. However, these nine “perfect” strangers have no idea what is about to hit them.

Professor Chen, an archaeology expert, notices that the texture on the artifacts discovered by his students during a glacier expedition, is strikingly similar to a jade pendant he had seen in his dreams. It seems as that the pendant is connecting the realm of dreams to reality. Filled with curiosity, Professor Chen leads the research team on a journey deep into the Glacier Temple, in search of the truth behind his dreams, embarking on a fantastical adventure together.
