New Children’s Books: Thursday, May 23

Looking for some new books for your children to read? The library is constantly receiving new materials, including the items below. Why not stop by and check out a book, CD, movie, or other material that they might find interesting. We will continue to offer “Grab and Go” services for those who prefer to place their books on hold online and then pick them up in the cabinet inside the library.

Fergus and Zeke and the Great Farm Field Trip

Fergus and Zeke love being the class pets in Miss Maxwell’s class, and they do everything the students do. So when Miss Maxwell tells the class they’re going on a field trip to a local farm to help with the farm animals, pick apples, and learn about where food comes from, Fergus and Zeke make a plan to sneak their way onto the trip. It’s busy harvest time on the farm, and before they know it, Fergus and Zeke are separated from the class and running from one sticky situation to another, annoying plenty of hens, goats, and sheep along the way. Will they manage to make it back to Miss Maxwell’s class before the bus leaves for home, or will they be stuck on the farm for good? For ages 5-8.

Daniel’s First Airplane Ride

A new generation of children love Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, inspired by the classic series Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. The Tiger Family is going on an exciting vacation! But this time, they’re taking an airplane. Since Daniel hasn’t flown before, he’s a little nervous. What happens when you walk through the security line? Where does your luggage go? From finding his seat to looking out the window to experiencing turbulence, Daniel has his parents and the flight attendant to explain things and ease his fears. Strategies and songs from the show will help ease any fears kids may have when they travel on a plane for the first time! In addition, a kid-friendly glossary explaining airline terms and occupations is included in the back of the book. For ages 3-7.

Summer Is Here

Summer is finally here, and she’s bringing the most perfect day! From sunup to sundown, there’s so much to do on this lovely summer day. With summer comes fresh fruit, sweet and tangy, jump ropes for leaping and dancing, and friends at the pool swimming and floating. Summer brings family cookouts under shady trees, gardens overflowing, and the familiar song of the ice-cream truck.
