New Adult Fiction: Friday, March 8

Pretty soon it will be time to head out and prep your gardens and lawns for summer weather, but there’s still time to settle in on these cooler days with a good book. Stop by and check out a book, CD, movie, or other material that you find interesting. We will continue to offer “Grab and Go” services for those who prefer to place their books on hold online and then pick them up in the cabinet inside the library.

Here are a few of the new books that have arrived at the library recently. We invite you to check them out!

The Uncharted Flight of Olivia West (Large print)

1927. Olivia “Livy” West is a fearless young pilot with a love of adventure. She yearns to cross oceans and travel the skies. When she learns of the Dole Air Race — a high-stakes contest to be the first to make the 2,400 mile Pacific crossing from the West Coast to Hawaii — she sets her sights on qualifying. 1987. Wren Summers is down to her last dime when she learns she has inherited a remote piece of land on the Big Island. She is drawn in by the mysterious objects kept in the barn — clues to a tragic piece of aviation history. Determined to find out what really happened all those years ago, Wren enlists the help of residents at a nearby retirement home to uncover Olivia’s story piece by piece.

The Hunter

Cal Hooper took early retirement from Chicago PD and moved to rural Ireland looking for peace. He’s found it, more or less: he’s built a relationship with a local woman, Lena, and he’s gradually turning Trey Reddy from a half-feral teenager into a good kid going good places. But then Trey’s long-absent father reappears, bringing along an English millionaire and a scheme to find gold in the townland, and suddenly everything the three of them have been building is under threat. Cal and Lena are both ready to do whatever it takes to protect Trey, but Trey doesn’t want protecting. What she wants is revenge.

Never Too Late

Kezia Cooper Hobson, recently widowed, arrives in New York from San Francisco. She is excited to move into the blank slate of a beautiful midtown penthouse, in the city that she has always loved. As Kezia settles into her new apartment, she meets her movie-star next-door neighbor, Sam Stewart, whose terrace borders hers. Just a couple of weeks after she arrives, however, a devastating crisis strikes New York City. Kezia and Sam find themselves connecting over their strong impulse to help those in need. As they share a life-changing experience of volunteering, a bond is sparked and a friendship is formed. Kezia is learning that the changes she’s making are just what she needs to open new horizons.
