New Books for Children: Wednesday, February 28

Looking for some new books for your children to read? The library is constantly receiving new materials, including the items below. Why not stop by and check out a book, CD, movie, or other material that they might find interesting. We will continue to offer “Grab and Go” services for those who prefer to place their books on hold online and then pick them up in the cabinet inside the library.

Here are a few of the new books for children that have arrived at the library recently. We invite you to check them out!

Dangerous Allies

X-Men meets Spy Kids in the fourth installment of The Forgotten Five middle-grade fantasy/adventure series by the author of The Unwanteds. Following an explosive showdown with President Fuerte and his supernatural henchmen, the forgotten five and their allies are feeling lost. Rabia’s Eid

Join a young girl and her family as they celebrate Eid-al-fitr, a holiday that marks the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. It’s Eid-al-fitr—the last day of Ramadan, which means it is the last day for Rabia to fast with the rest of her family and she has never done it before. Rabia is so excited! She eats just before sunrise and then the day of fasting begins! Rabia gets to have her hands painted with henna, wear a new dress, and put her family’s donation in the box at the mosque. Step 2 Readers use basic vocabulary and short sentences to tell simple stories, for children who recognize familiar words and can sound out new words with help. For ages 4-6.

The Cat Ninja and a Cabal of Shadows A Fantastic Tails Adventure

If you like talking animals, stealthy ninjas, and beating up bad guys, then you’ll love The Cat Ninja. This chapter book deals with many themes including anger, loss, abandonment, and fear. The author is a native Rochesterian! For ages 8-12 year.
