NaNoWriMo Meetup

Every Monday in November

6:00-7:300 p.m.

If you’ve never heard of NaNoWriMo, it may sound like gibberish to you—something a baby might say when they’re working on their first sentence. But that’s not quite the case.

NaNoWriMo stands for “National Novel Writing Month.” It’s backed by a well-established national organization, also called NaNoWriMo, and it exists to provide tools, structure, community, and encouragement to help people find their voices, achieve their creative goals, and build new worlds, both on and off the page. It is especially encouraging to young writers, more than 100,000 of whom participate in annual workshops and more.

If you’ve ever wanted to write—whether it’s for your own personal journal or the Great American Novel—NaNoWriMo wants to give you the tools to make it happen. At Macedon Public Library, individuals who want to learn more about writing or to share their writing will be meeting throughout the month of November on Mondays from 6-7 pm. There’s no pressure—you don’t need to share what you’ve written if you’d rather not, nor are you required to have any of your writing available for review. This is merely a non-judgmental time for people who want to talk about writing and what works or doesn’t work for them.

Our meetups are free and open to everyone. So if you’ve ever wanted to put pen to paper (or finger to keyboard) and want to have the support of others like you, why not stop by on Monday evening to find out what NaNoWriMo is all about.
